Landry Bonvallet, editor of Hay Tsingory, presented the publishing house's new authors to the press yesterday. Hay Tsingory Editions unveiled their 2025 catalog at BNM Anosy, highlighting a new generation of Malagasy authors and illustrators. The publishing house, already noticed in 2024 with the first volume of Fanambin'i Rijakely, continues its journey with a second volume and a third in preparation. This humorous comic strip in Malagasy language tells the challenges of a peasant high school student facing his future, according to author Riri's explanations. The catalog also features Tsioka and Azy, two textual works by Kura (Rovaniaina Holisambatra), which blend tales, traditions and family narratives, illustrated by Sedra Faliery, Manouh Rakotoarison and Béatrice Chung. On the manga side, Arira Arira by Cloud Blue revisits angano, or traditional Malagasy tales, through a heroine with supernatural powers, while Loulou Naka by Mozeration explores a complicated romantic relationship against a backdrop of legends and curses. This presentation emphasized the importance of manga and comics in Malagasy as cultural and educational vectors. Hay Tsingory relies on self-taught, young and talented artists to offer readers stories rooted in local culture while opening modern perspectives. The works are available in bookstores and intended mainly for teenagers over 13 years old.
