A 10-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on the evening of Sunday, June 21 in Ambohibary, in the commune of Ampangabe, Ambohidratrimo district. The main suspect, a young man known by the name Tafita, is actively being sought by gendarmes. The child's mother, chief of the Ambohibary fokontany, filed a complaint with the gendarmes at the Ampangabe outpost. Before taking this step, she reported to investigators the confidences shared by her daughter upon returning home. According to the mother's account, the suspect is a long-time neighbor who frequently visits their house. On Sunday evening, while the girl was playing in the yard, the young man allegedly asked her to accompany him to buy an item at the market. Knowing the individual and trusting him, the child agreed. After several minutes without news from the girl, her relatives became worried and began searching for her. When she finally returned home, she complained of severe pain and told her mother she had been taken to a ditch overgrown with brush, located near their home. According to the mother's account to investigators, the child stated she had been threatened and forcibly taken to this isolated place, where she suffered sexual violence. The alleged victim immediately reported the facts to her family, causing considerable distress in the neighborhood. Alerted, family members and residents reportedly managed to apprehend the suspected perpetrator. However, while being taken to local authorities, he allegedly managed to escape. Investigations at the scene identified the ditch indicated by the child, just fifty meters from her home. Investigators found several items potentially useful to the investigation. The girl was immediately cared for and taken to a health center, then underwent specialized medical examinations in Antananarivo. Meanwhile, gendarmes continue actively searching for the suspect. The investigation remains open to shed full light on this particularly sensitive case.
