ADMINISTRATION - Madagascan Passport Validity Extended
The extension of Madagascan passport validity has reached a new milestone. The principle of this reform was validated during a Council of Ministers held by videoconference on Tuesday, following a verbal communication presented by the Ministry of Public Security. This measure responds to a long-standing demand from the Malagasy diaspora, faced with the costs and constraints of frequent passport renewals. The objective is to simplify administrative procedures for citizens, particularly those residing abroad. In parallel, the government plans to modernize passport issuance procedures through the development of online services. This evolution should allow passport holders to complete certain procedures remotely, limiting travel to consulates and embassies. However, the implementation details of the reform remain to be clarified. Technical meetings between the institutions concerned will define practical aspects, including the effective date, implementation conditions, and administrative provisions, which will be set by an implementing decree.
