An unusual case. An armed man with a criminal record was arrested Tuesday evening in Antaninandro, in the third district of the capital. According to information gathered by gendarmes from the Tanà-Ville Company, the individual was impersonating a police officer and was carrying an Airsoft-type pistol without ammunition, stored in a holster. He wore a vest marked "Police", military green clothing, and had drug paraphernalia in his possession. Law enforcement, alerted around 8 p.m. by a citizen, went to the scene and arrested him. The man, identified as R. A. M., 46 years old, a merchant residing in Ambohipo, was taken into custody. The investigation revealed he had previously served a three-month prison sentence at Antanimora for drug trafficking. An inquiry has been opened and assigned to the Betongolo Brigade. For the offense of impersonation, the suspect faces imprisonment of one month to five years and a fine between 300,000 and 9,000,000 ariary, in accordance with the Penal Code.
