Three Japanese animated films were screened at Cinepax during a cultural festival. The event highlighted the richness of Japanese cinema to the Malagasy audience. Japanese cinema took center stage at Cinepax from August 3 to 5 through a festival dedicated to Japanese animated works. Organized by the Japanese Embassy and the Japan Foundation, in collaboration with the Profiler Madagascar agency, this cultural event allowed the public to discover several emblematic productions from Japan.
Three animated films were featured over these three days: Your Name and Weathering with You, directed by Shinkai Makoto, as well as Attack on Titan, directed by Higuchi Shinji. Each work benefited from two screening sessions to allow viewers to follow the various programs offered.
Discovery
The official opening of the festival took place on Monday, August 3 with the screening of Your Name. The ceremony was marked by the presence of the Japanese Ambassador, Tojima Hitoshi, who launched this event dedicated to Japanese cinema.
Through these screenings, the festival offered the general public a discovery of Japanese culture. The works presented notably allow for an appreciation of different artistic expressions from Japan, through stories blending imaginative worlds and elements related to Japanese society.
The event concluded on Wednesday afternoon with the screening of Attack on Titan. On this occasion, the Japanese Embassy and the Japan Foundation thanked their collaborators for their participation in organizing this cultural activity.
This initiative is part of the desire to strengthen cultural ties between Japan and Madagascar by promoting exchanges through cinema. Organizers also invite the public to follow upcoming cultural activities announced by the Japanese Embassy.
