FIMPIMA: Voary Ranoromampionona Takes the Helm
A fresh wind is blowing through Malagasy oratory. The City of Flowers hosted the 6th Congress of FIMPIMA (Fikambanan'ny Mpikabary Malagasy) at the Palace of Culture in Mahajanga. This major national event brought together numerous delegations from all provinces of the Great Island as well as from the diaspora. The election results saw Voary Ranoromampionona elected to lead the association for a four-year term. Immediately after taking her oath, the new president delivered an inclusive inaugural address. She called on all members to combine their efforts to promote "kabary" and to lay the groundwork now for the association's 65th anniversary celebrations. Keen to make her mark, President Voary affirmed that her governance will focus on openness and active listening to all members. This election marks the end of an era. Voary Ranoromampionona succeeds Hanitra Andriamboavonjy, an emblematic figure who led FIMPIMA for two decades. Now elevated to the rank of honorary president (Voarabe), the outgoing president delivered a very positive assessment of her tenure, emphasizing the importance of continuing the founders' work. She warmly congratulated her successor while guaranteeing her unwavering support, humbly recalling that she began as a teacher and will remain one.
