Orange Madagascar has launched the "Manamaitso Sekoly" useful planting project to strengthen its commitment to environmental preservation while promoting education. The company's digital schools are being transformed into ecological experimentation spaces. The initiative aims to raise awareness among students and teachers about ecology through green space maintenance and food production. This will foster food self-sufficiency in digital schools, as each establishment produces its own canteen supplies, supporting student welfare. Eco-citizenship promotion is also a key component. Useful planting and environmental awareness are becoming integral to daily school life. "Through the implementation of the 'Manamaitso Sekoly' project, we are making schools places of concrete action for ecological transition. By directly involving students and teachers, we create lasting change for future generations," explained Benja Arson, President of Orange Solidarité Madagascar, during the project launch at the Masindray digital school yesterday. A vegetable garden and educational nursery have been established at the school. Students, teachers, authorities, and Orange Madagascar volunteers, as part of the Orange Engage for Change program, participated in practical activities including recycling awareness, interactive quizzes, planting workshops, and green space creation. This initiative covers 463 m² benefiting 200 students. Orange Madagascar plans to extend the "Manamaitso Sekoly" project to all digital schools to strengthen environmental education and promote ecological best practices. The project aligns with "Miara Manamaitso ny Tontolo," structured around four pillars: carbon emission reduction, recycling, useful planting, and environmental awareness. Orange Madagascar has also conducted other environmental preservation actions, including tree planting in Brickaville in partnership with NGO Canopy. For the 2026 reforestation campaign, 41,000 plants were planted across 13 sites, demonstrating the company's strong commitment to national reforestation, ecosystem restoration, and strengthening the country's resilience to climate change.
