SPECTACLE - Poopy and Johary Rekindle Their Musical Chemistry
After more than 30 years of collaboration, Poopy and Johary will finally headline a concert entirely dedicated to their shared musical history. Poopy and Johary will at last share a stage exclusively devoted to their musical partnership. Since the early 1990s, Poopy and the band Johary have continually captivated Malagasy audiences through their collaborations. Their voices have frequently blended on stage, creating performances that have become essential. Yet despite this long artistic partnership, they had never before proposed a show bringing together exclusively their two worlds. This expectation, nurtured for over three decades by their admirers, will end with Kanto Mifameno, an unprecedented concert scheduled for Sunday, August 16 at 3 p.m. at the CCI Ivato Amphitheatre. Long before this new creation, the two artists had already shared the bill at several shows. These meetings left precious memories with music lovers and confirmed the musical alchemy uniting the two groups. Today, they choose to reconnect with this history by proposing a show entirely built around their partnership. "We have shared the stage for many years. Today, we reunite to revive these beautiful memories together," explains Luk, a member of Johary. Through these reunions, the artists wish to rekindle the emotions that marked their previous collaborations while offering an unprecedented concert. The show promises a musical journey through the repertoires of both artists. Duets, trios and ensemble performances will punctuate the afternoon, alternating between Poopy's emblematic songs and those of Johary. More than a simple succession of titles, Kanto Mifameno will highlight two musical identities that have complemented each other for over 30 years. This complementarity, forged through concerts and collaborations, is moreover at the origin of the show's very name. The concert also continues their artistic momentum. At the end of July, Poopy and Johary unveiled the music video for the medley Kanto Mifameno, created with Johary members Luk, Mahery and Gothlieb. This medley opens with Fitia voarara, one of the songs that had popularized their collaboration at the time. By choosing this piece to introduce the video, the artists pay homage to a work that marked their shared journey and remains etched in the memory of several generations of music lovers. Over the decades, Poopy has established herself as one of the greatest voices of Malagasy song. Her singular timbre, her sense of interpretation and the richness of her repertoire have allowed her to transcend generations while maintaining a privileged place with the public. For its part, Johary, composed of Luk, Mahery and Gothlieb, has distinguished itself through its vocal harmonies and its faithfulness to a musical identity that has largely contributed to its success. Together, they embody the meeting of two worlds that naturally respond to each other. With Kanto Mifameno, Poopy and Johary will not merely revisit their most beautiful songs. They will offer the public a concert placed under the sign of memories, emotion and sharing, celebrating an artistic partnership built over the years and which, for the first time, will be at the heart of the same bill.
