A young man remains missing since Sunday on Lake Mamamba, between Ilaivola Ivato and Mandrosoa. He was part of a group of three men who were in a canoe that capsized around 2:30 p.m. Two of them, found dead, were recovered from the surface. The third, identified as Stéphane, remains missing. Search efforts continue and anyone with information is urged to contact his family at 034 01 492 70.

Lake Mamamba has a grim reputation for its dangers. Each year, it is the scene of tragedies. Within just a few months, four fatal accidents have been recorded there. Two women who went to collect wood shavings at Ankadindravola lost their lives when their boat overturned. Shortly after, two teenage girls who came to fetch water also died in similar circumstances. A man pursued by a crowd after a theft attempted to escape by swimming and drowned.

This time, the body of water claimed the lives of two men and has left a family in anguish, without news of their missing loved one.
