The Ministry of Land Planning and Land Services (MATSF) has allocated 130 hectares of land to the Ministry of Energy and Hydrocarbons (MEH) in Tsimahabeomby, Arivonimamo, for a solar power plant project. The land is located in Tsimahabeomby, in the rural commune of Ambohimandry, Arivonimamo district, Itasy region. This allocation was formalized by decree no. 24 492/2026-MATSF of July 27, 2026. The site will host an electricity generation facility powered by solar energy. This initiative is part of Madagascar's renewable energy development policy. It aims to increase the country's electricity production capacity and gradually reduce dependence on thermal power plants using fossil fuels. The implementation of this infrastructure should also help improve access to electricity and secure energy supply. The project is presented as an investment designed primarily to meet the population's needs and support the country's economic and social development.
