Vehicles have already been fined. After an awareness campaign and a five-day grace period for motorists to remove non-compliant lights, authorities have moved to the enforcement phase. The General Directorate of Road Safety (DGSR) conducted an operation on the evening of Thursday, July 30, starting at 8 p.m. Led by Colonel Rija Alberto Rakotomampianina, head of road operations and technical inspection services, the intervention was launched on national roads 2 and 7. Officers identified several vehicles still equipped with non-compliant lighting devices, despite awareness campaigns and warnings to users. In total, forty-five vehicles were fined for using lights causing glare that could disturb other road users. The drivers concerned were required to remove these devices before continuing their journey, while the seized equipment was confiscated to prevent reuse. Precise Standards The General Directorate of Road Safety reminds that factory vehicles already have lighting systems compliant with current regulations. Colored lights or modified devices are not permitted when they do not comply with regulations. Dealers, for their part, emphasize that approved equipment meets precise standards. They also indicate that no authorization requests have yet been recorded for such devices, but they could assist motorists in their procedures if a process were to be established.
