A school district chief was imprisoned along with two others following a police raid at a Masonic lodge in Ivandry. Republic Prosecutor Narindra Navalona Rakotoniaina revealed shocking details. Two men and a woman, suspected of involvement in the case, appeared before the prosecutor's office on Saturday, August 1st. Following their questioning, all three suspects were placed in provisional detention—the two men at Tsiafahy and the woman at Antanimora. In a brief statement released the same day, the Republic Prosecutor at Antananarivo's court of first instance, Narindra Navalona Rakotoniaina, specified that "the arrested persons are members of a secret society or Freemasonry, specifically Masonic lodges," adding that one of them serves as chief of the School District (Cisco) of Antananarivo City. According to her, this discovery followed a police raid at the group's meeting place in Ivandry, within the Étoile Australe lodge. The prosecutor detailed items seized: a coffin, a sword, and numerous letters and books containing information on rituals allegedly used for sacrifices. An altar was also discovered on the premises. The three suspects face charges of sorcery, kidnapping, grave desecration, and death threats. Investigation continues. According to the prosecutor, the investigation continues to determine whether these practices are linked to missing persons cases. Already on July 12th, the Cisco chief's wife was apprehended by residents in Namontana, suspected of attempted child abduction, before authorities concluded she was suffering from depression. When briefly contacted by phone yesterday, the director of the prosecutor's office at Antananarivo's court of first instance confirmed that the investigation was ongoing. "Pending its conclusion, these persons remain in provisional detention. Identification of other individuals, whether members of the group or not, potentially involved, will depend on the investigation. Only then will we know with certainty whether this organization is linked to murders and abductions committed in our country," he stated.
