A woman has been remanded in custody at Antanimora Central Prison in connection with an alleged attempted child abduction that occurred in Ankadindramamy. The incident took place on Wednesday, July 29, in the Ambohidahy district of Ankadindramamy. A 15-year-old girl reported being followed by a woman who photographed her while pursuing her. Frightened, the teenager managed to escape and immediately alerted her family, who contacted law enforcement. Police responded quickly to the scene and arrested the suspect. Their arrival also prevented a lynching: several residents, convinced it was an attempted child abduction, had begun attacking the woman. The case was then handed over to a joint investigation unit comprising investigators from the National Police and National Gendarmerie at Tsaralalàna Central Police Station. Following custody questioning and initial investigations, the suspect was brought before the prosecutor on July 30. The magistrate ordered her remand in custody at Antanimora Prison. The investigation continues to establish the suspect's motives and verify whether other elements or possible accomplices are involved.
