The Miss Madagascar Committee (CMM) announced that no candidate will represent the island nation at the international Miss World 2026 competition. In a statement released on July 31, the organization explained its decision to postpone participation in order to dedicate more time to preparing its future representative. The stated objective is to return in 2027 with a candidate who has received enhanced support and is capable of representing Madagascar on the international stage. According to the Committee, this decision stems from careful consideration regarding the quality of the country's representation. The CMM emphasizes that having a Malagasy woman at Miss World extends beyond a beauty pageant. It also represents an opportunity to promote Madagascar's human wealth, cultural diversity, and values of solidarity. The numerous remarks, suggestions, and encouragement directed to the Committee over recent years have informed this reflection and guided the decisions made. Since 2012, five candidates have represented Madagascar at Miss World. For the Committee, the next participation must follow an even more ambitious approach, faithful to the "Beauty With A Purpose" philosophy, which emphasizes social commitment, community action, and cultural influence far beyond the competition. Preparations for the Miss Madagascar 2027 election will begin in August. The future winner will be tasked with defending Madagascar's colors at Miss World 2027. To elevate the event's organizational standards, the Committee also plans to recruit a specialized communication and events agency. The call for applications will be open from August 3 to 22, 2026, and will aim to select a partner capable of ensuring the design, coordination, and execution of the national final according to desired professional standards. Through this new strategy, the CMM hopes to revitalize the national competition and prepare a representative worthy of Madagascar's ambitions on the international stage.
