Mamy Ravatomanga: Bail Hearing Scheduled for August 17-18
As scheduled, Mamy Ravatomanga appeared yesterday before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) in Mauritius. Unable to leave his cell at Mellrose prison, he attended the hearing via videoconference. According to reports, following the hearing, a decision was made to postpone the debates surrounding his bail application. The powerful Malagasy businessman will learn his fate on August 17-18. For now, the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) maintains its position and firmly opposes any conditional release of the President-Director General of the SODIAT group. Recall that yesterday's hearing was initially supposed to address the preliminary objection raised by the FCC, which had contested the admissibility of the new bail motion filed by the defense. According to Top FM Mauritius, the FCC ultimately withdrew this objection, which allowed the Court to set a date to hear the bail application on its merits. Pending his fate on August 17-18, Mamy Ravatomanga remains in detention at Mellrose prison in Mauritius.
