Madagascar's new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Major General Edelin Calixte Randriamiandrisoa, has officially presented his credentials to Monica Juma, Director-General of the United Nations Office in Vienna. Now formally accredited, the new Permanent Representative's mission is to advance Madagascar's strategic voice within multilateral institutions, negotiate development financing and partnerships, while upholding national sovereignty. With solid diplomatic experience and recognized international expertise, General Edelin Calixte Randriamiandrisoa is the right person in the right place to represent the nation at the UN. On the bilateral front, he has also been appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Madagascar to the Swiss Confederation. Notably, he served as a member of the Ethics and Governance Committee and as an administrator on the Board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria from 2022 until his recent UN appointment. This senior multilateral official also chaired Madagascar's Global Fund National Coordination Mechanism between 2015 and 2021.

Areas of Expertise

Throughout his career, General Edelin Calixte Randriamiandrisoa has held various high-responsibility positions. He served as Coordinator of the Maritime Information Fusion Centre within the Prime Minister's office from 2015 to 2018. He possesses high-level expertise across multiple domains. He holds the position of Inspector General at Madagascar's Civil Aviation Authority, served as Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in 2009, and was appointed Minister of Environment and Forests between 2009 and 2010. Administration and finance are also among his areas of specialization. He previously held the position of Director of Administrative Affairs at the Military Cabinet of the Presidential Office between 1997 and 2002.
