False Alarm: Woman Hides Ex-Husband in Ambohimanambola
An unusual case. A man reported missing was found safe and sound on Wednesday in Ambohimanambola. The 42-year-old had been declared missing on July 28 by his wife, who alerted the gendarmerie. According to her account, he left home the previous day to handle administrative matters and never returned. Suspicious phone calls subsequently led investigators to his ex-wife, R. L., who claimed he was detained at Andoharanofotsy gendarmerie—information denied by the latter. R. L. was taken into custody as part of the investigation. The following day, July 29, the man returned home. He explained that he had spent two days at his ex-wife's house to visit their children and had deliberately hidden his presence from his current wife, fearing the search efforts. He stated he was neither assaulted nor kidnapped. His ex-spouse admitted to lying during her initial interrogation. The man was questioned by investigators to clarify the circumstances of this voluntary disappearance.
