On the occasion of the Throne Festival, Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Madagascar in its development priorities through strengthened cooperation across multiple sectors. Mohamed Benjilany, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, addressed guests at the Throne Festival celebration yesterday in Androhibe.
At the Moroccan residence, the reception brought together members of the Malagasy government, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and several personalities, in a context marked by reinforced cooperation between the two countries.
Beyond the ceremonial nature of the event, discussions highlighted concrete advances in the Morocco-Madagascar partnership. The visit by Alice N'Diaye, Malagasy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Morocco in spring 2026 concluded with a joint communiqué described as historic, opening a new phase of bilateral cooperation.
The first tangible results are already materializing. "The immediate effect of this visit is the increase in the quota of university scholarships granted to Malagasy students, rising from 70 previously to 100 this year," announced Mohamed Benjilany, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Madagascar, in his address.
Other projects are currently being finalized and should be launched soon. Cooperation also extends to the social sector. Last June, about ten Malagasy children, accompanied by their mothers and supervisors, benefited from a care program in Morocco. In Madagascar, "Moroccan trainers collaborate with associations working for people with disabilities" to strengthen their support.
Morocco intends to maintain this commitment during this period of reform. "Morocco honors its commitments to support Madagascar during this period and will continue this win-win partnership for the benefit of both countries," declared the ambassador.
These results are part of a long-standing diplomatic relationship founded on historical ties between the two nations. "Madagascar supported Morocco's struggle for independence under the reign of the late His Majesty Mohammed V," the ambassador recalled, an episode that remains a strong symbol of friendship between the two peoples.
The year 2026 also marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Antananarivo. Over two decades, bilateral exchanges have progressively strengthened and diversified, covering strategic sectors such as education, health, vocational training, and social action.
