Traffic at Anosizato was flowing smoothly on the eve of the flyover project launch. Today is expected to be busier. Traffic at Anosizato yesterday did not cause the major disruptions everyone had feared. Vehicles moved without significant blockages. "We just passed through there and traffic was quite smooth, contrary to what we expected," said Antoine Rafidimanana, a motorist from Ampitatafika. "It's even smoother than usual," added Karl Tolojanahary, a road user. Laza Ratinarisoa, a suburban bus dispatcher at Anosizato-Ouest for the Union of Suburban Transport Cooperatives, noted no major changes in traffic flow at Anosizato-Ouest. "Traffic jams are like any other day," he said.

Traffic moved without major blockages throughout the day. The only disruptions occurred when trucks carrying equipment for the official flyover project launch ceremony, scheduled for late afternoon, passed through. These were brief. Many users also changed their routes, fearing massive congestion at Anosizato. Some took the Itaosy road, others the Tanjombato-Soavina route.

Detour

Some road users fear this is the calm before the storm. "The road will only be closed from tonight until Saturday, so traffic jams will probably be intense today," said Fitahiana Ramaro, a line F driver. The road section between Anosipatrana junction (KM 3+900) and Anosizato bridge (KM 3+000) will be completely closed to all vehicles from Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 9 p.m. to Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 4 a.m., according to the Public Works Ministry. Vehicles from Ampasika must detour via Anosipatrana, Anosibe and Anosizato Atsinanana to reach Anosizato. Traffic will also be temporarily interrupted on the section connecting Fasan'ny Karana Shell station (KM 1+300) to Anosizato roundabout (KM 3+000) throughout today.

Despite expected slowdowns on this route today, users show no particular discontent. "The construction of this infrastructure suits us perfectly, as it will permanently relieve traffic congestion on this axis," said Laza Ratinarisoa, who witnesses daily traffic jams at Anosizato. Road users will need to wait two years to see results. The project duration is twenty-four months, according to the Public Works Ministry.

Modified traffic for heavy vehicles

Antananarivo City Council prohibits heavy vehicle access to the zone from Thursday, July 30 at 1 a.m. to Saturday, August 1 at 10 a.m., due to the flyover project launch. Mandatory detour routes are in place: the RN4-RN7 link is redirected via Tsarasaotra, Marais Masay, the Ring Road and By-pass; the RN7-RN1 axis bypasses the zone via Namontana-Anosibe or Fasan'ny Karana-Ankadimbahoaka; finally, RN1-RN4 transit is diverted via Itaosy, Ampasika and Ampitatafika.

Miangaly Ralitera
