The only compliant parking spaces are those marked with yellow inscriptions on the asphalt, indicating specific references for businesses and individuals with active subscriptions. Parking spaces marked as "reserved" and blocked by concrete blocks, used tires, barriers, or other objects designed to prevent access are not in any way compliant with current regulations and are therefore prohibited. The SMGD emphasizes that the presence of these devices does not mean the space is actually reserved and can therefore be used by any driver. However, it has been observed that non-compliant "reserved" spaces are flooding Antananarivo's city center without offenders facing consequences, much to the frustration of users struggling to find parking. Through the same communication channel as the SMGD, users are denouncing the situation and suggesting that authorities enforce regulations by removing these non-compliant devices. Users report difficulty removing blocking objects themselves due to fear of retaliation from illegal "owners": scratched paint, deflated tires, and other vehicle vandalism.
