Ricky, Malala of Arya Agency and an event partner representative addressed the press yesterday. The 35th edition of the Manala Azy Vita Bac concert will take place this Saturday, August 1st, 2026 at Antsahamanitra, under the direction of Arya Agency. Originally scheduled for July 24th, the concert was postponed due to national mourning. Typically held in the evening, Olombelo Ricky chose to maintain the event in the early afternoon to ensure serenity and avoid security concerns.
Olombelo Ricky recalls that this celebration was created to accompany young people who have just completed their baccalaureate exams. "Manala Azy is in a way a rite of passage from adolescence to adulthood," he explains. Since then, this rite has become an institution, spanning generations and reaching its 35th edition today.
But Manala Azy is not just a youth celebration: it is also a platform for promoting artists. Since the 10th edition, Ricky has surrounded himself with Malagasy musicians and singers. Among past guests are Jaojoby, Lalatiana, Tata Rahely, and bassist Sylvin Marc. Originally from Tamatave, the latter is recognized for inspiring the creation of the five-string bass guitar, an innovation that marked international music history. This year, the question remains: who will be the special guest? The surprise is still intact.
The show will last nearly three and a half hours, featuring all emblematic albums: Ikalangita, Ody Aina, Ao tsara, Tsikombakomba, and songs from the Vazimba Vocal group. Each generation will find their landmarks, anthems and memories.
But the most poignant moment will undoubtedly be the tribute to Ramy Franck, Olombelo Ricky's uncle, who recently passed away. He had marked the cultural scene with his presence and supported Ricky's early career. He was both a family and artistic reference point.
