Sun King strengthens its presence in Madagascar with the opening of a new store in Andramahavola Itaosy and the deployment of solar equipment for the local brigade. This initiative aims to improve access to reliable energy amid electricity supply challenges. The company plans to invest over 5 million dollars in developing off-grid solar solutions. It aims to reach more than 1.5 million new beneficiaries by 2030 and provide solar energy to nearly 7.5 million people in the coming years.
In a context where electricity access remains a challenge for part of the population, Sun King focuses on solutions adapted to Malagasy household realities. Its model is based on a progressive payment system allowing users to acquire solar kits according to their financial capacity. In Itaosy, the deployment of solar equipment at the brigade level provides concrete support to agents. The system is particularly useful during night operations and allows activities to continue even during power cuts.
"This solar energy is very useful for the brigade, especially at night and during power cuts. It allows us to continue our work under better conditions," says Botozaha Angelo Christian, brigade chief of Itaosy.
"Our goal is to enable Malagasy people to access reliable and affordable energy. We don't just offer products, but a solution that meets the needs of households without electricity," explains Avoniaina Rakotoarison, marketing manager of Sun King Madagascar.
With the opening of this new store in Andramahavola Itaosy, the company continues expanding its distribution network. Three new sales points are planned before year-end, followed by seven more in 2027. Supported by the World Bank and a partnership with Yas Madagascar, Sun King aims to contribute to the country's electrification through clean and accessible energy.
