The National Youth Consultation is entering its final phase. Hundreds of young people from across Madagascar gathered for four days at the International Conference Centre (CCI) in Ivato to formulate their expectations and proposals for the country's refoundation.

The CCI Ivato has transformed into a major youth forum. With applause, substantive debates and speeches, representatives of young people from all 24 regions are voicing their concerns and aspirations.

Under the theme "Giving Voice to Youth for Madagascar's Refoundation," the consultation unfolds in two stages: three days of thematic workshops that began yesterday and continue until tomorrow, followed by a day dedicated to presenting and adopting final recommendations. These will be submitted on August 1st to the highest authorities.

With a predominantly young population, Madagascar has a significant pool of ideas and energy. According to Maître Hanitra Razafimanantsoa, Minister of State for Refoundation, this consultation must be "a space for listening, dialogue and expression." "There cannot be sustainable and effective refoundation without young people," she stated.

Debates have been intense from the start. On the political front, students from the universities of Toliara and Fianarantsoa advocated for a federal state model, arguing that "centralization excessively concentrates decisions in Antananarivo." Others called for deep institutional reform. Representatives of Gen Z Madagasikara Ofisialy recalled that last April's demonstrations reflected this demand for change. "There cannot be reform of a dead system. We demand the dissolution of the National Assembly," they declared.

In a pre-recorded video address, Alain Rasambany, Minister of Youth and Sports, clarified the stakes: "This consultation lays the groundwork for major guidelines, develops strategies and sets an implementation timeline. The conclusions will be submitted to the President of Refoundation, the Prime Minister, the FFKM and the international community."

On the agenda: election organization, institutional reform, governance, economic recovery, culture and environmental protection. These are the areas where youth now intends to have a say.
