The 35th edition of Manal'Azy Vita Bacc, organized on Saturday, August 1st at Antsahamanitra, will pay tribute to Ramy Franck, who recently passed away. Olombelo Ricky will honor the late figure of the Malagasy music scene during this edition of the event.

Music will resonate in memory of Ramy Franck on Saturday, August 1st at Antsahamanitra. For its 35th edition, Manal'Azy Vita Bacc will dedicate part of its program to this prominent figure of the Malagasy music scene, who recently passed away. Originally scheduled for July 24th, following the baccalaureate exams, the show had been postponed.

Created by Olombelo Ricky, the event aims to offer newly graduated bachelors a moment of relaxation after their exams. During a press conference, the artist explained his desire to maintain this tradition despite a busy cultural calendar and difficult organizational conditions.

"Currently, it is difficult to organize an event due to many other appointments, but we want to maintain this tradition that I created for students who have just completed their baccalaureate, so they can relax, unwind and release stress through music," he stated.

A Rite of Passage

The show will exceptionally begin at 3 p.m. and last approximately four hours. This choice will allow the event to take place during the day and enhance public safety. Previously purchased tickets remain valid.

Since its creation, Manal'Azy Vita Bacc has become a landmark event marking the transition between high school life and higher education. The concept was born from the desire to provide a breathing space for young people following their exams, including when these have been disrupted or postponed, as during the political crisis that led to the postponement of the baccalaureate to October.

For this edition, Olombelo Ricky will be accompanied by his usual team, notably including Miary Tanjona on percussion, Mendrika Rasolomahatratra on aponga maro anaka, Dina on vocals, as well as Tiandray Razakamiadana and Kevin Mirija on saxophone.

The band has evolved over the years, with some musicians pursuing other projects abroad after several international tours. The repertoire will trace different periods of Olombelo Ricky's career, from Kiala Ngita to Vazimba Vokal Mozika, featuring songs such as "Iny Havako Iny" and "Tretrika".

Over thirty-five editions, Manal'Azy has also become a platform for expression for many artists. Olombelo Ricky has notably welcomed Salala, Dahopp, AVM, Sadabe, Jaojoby, Lalatiana, Taty Rahely, as well as MFakela, a singer based in Berlin, and Sylvain Marc, presented as the first Malagasy to have played bass guitar.

The artist regrets, however, an evolution in live performance where scenic creation increasingly relies on giant screens and lighting effects.

After this edition, Olombelo Ricky is expected to embark on an international tour, with the summer season marked by several festivals abroad until September. The holding of a new edition of Manal'Azy Tanora Zokiny remains uncertain, as the period following August 15th corresponds to vacation time.
