The Embassy of Comoros, Madagascar Airlines and AFG Bank Madagascar are joining forces to establish an air link serving development. Madagascar Airlines aims to reclaim its status as a major player in air transport in the Indian Ocean region. The national airline announces the resumption of air service between Madagascar and Comoros. The flight operated by Madagascar Airlines, using its ATR 72, will connect Antananarivo and Moroni via Mahajanga, with two weekly frequencies on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Strategic Significance
Announced yesterday during a ceremony held at the Cité des Cultures in Antaninarenina, the news was welcomed with enthusiasm by a large delegation of the Comorian community in Madagascar, led by Caabi Elyachroutu Mohamed, Ambassador of the Union of Comoros to Madagascar. The resumption also delights Malagasy travelers accustomed to this destination, likely strengthening social, economic and cultural ties between the two neighboring islands. This route, with its inaugural flight tomorrow, marks a new milestone in the national airline's regional development strategy, which now aims to strengthen connectivity in the Indian Ocean and facilitate tourism, economic and family exchanges between Madagascar and the Union of Comoros.
On this point, Rado Rabarilala emphasized the strategic importance of this new link and the value of partnerships in supporting regional air transport development: "The resumption of service to the Union of Comoros represents a strong commitment by the airline to bringing peoples closer together and developing exchanges in the Indian Ocean.
