A week after Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, president of the Refondation, issued an ultimatum, Enelec breaks its silence. Blamed by the head of state for electricity problems crippling Antsiranana and Toamasina for months, the private supplier announces a maintenance plan. "Since the President of the Refondation spoke, we have accelerated our interventions," the management acknowledges. On the ground, the company says it has shifted into high gear. Motors and critical parts, including crankshafts, have been delivered to sites. Specialized contractors have also been brought in to reinforce local teams. The private electricity supplier says it wants to stabilize the network and reduce power outages. "Initial measures are already producing concrete results," Enelec assures, without providing details. However, the operator refuses to shoulder all blame. It points to a critical lack of cash flow linked to "several years of unpaid debts from Jirama," an issue it claims to have flagged repeatedly. Despite the financial standoff, Enelec assures it has continued operations to "not penalize the population" and reaffirms its commitment to gradually improving service quality.
