Arrested bandits. An operation conducted by the Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR) of the National Police successfully neutralized a group of suspected criminals preparing to commit banditry in the Ambatomaro sector and surrounding areas. The operation resulted in two suspects killed and four others arrested alive. The incident occurred during the night of Saturday. According to information provided by law enforcement, six individuals suspected of planning armed attacks and burglaries were located and intercepted by UIR officers during a security operation. During their apprehension, two of the suspects allegedly offered violent resistance to police. According to reports, they attempted to seize the weapons of the intervening officers. Faced with this direct threat, law enforcement used their service weapons to ensure their own safety and that of their colleagues. Seriously wounded during the exchange, the two individuals did not survive. The four other alleged group members were arrested and placed in custody for investigation purposes. Police investigations indicate that the two deceased suspects had been actively sought for several years. They were considered the main leaders of a criminal network operating in several neighborhoods of Ambatomaro and surrounding areas. Their group is notably suspected of involvement in multiple armed robbery cases, burglaries, and other security incidents reported in this capital sector. Investigators are continuing their investigation to determine the exact extent of the group's activities and identify any remaining accomplices at large. This operation is part of efforts to strengthen the fight against major banditry and secure sensitive neighborhoods in the capital.
