Work is underway on RN1 bis. The rehabilitation of the route connecting Tsiroanomandidy to Maintirano has officially launched. 450 km linking Bongolava to the west coast. A long road that becomes a nightmare every rainy season. This time, military engineers are on the ground to repair the most degraded sections, those that completely cut off the road for weeks. The launch was supervised by General Pikulas Démosthène, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. The stated objective of the president of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, is to put military engineers back in service of the population. Priority goes first to the "black spots" - those that cause trucks to overturn and trap travelers. Work should last four to five months to be completed before the next rains. To achieve this, the engineers have reinforcement: Chinese company China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC). Equipment recently delivered to the unit is already operating. Beyond the asphalt, the stakes are high: opening up the Bongolava region, ensuring year-round connectivity, and strengthening security along this strategic western axis.
