According to reports, a woman and a man were stabbed with a knife on the evening of July 22, 2026, around 6 a.m., in the town of Ambodimadiro, Anosikely Avaratra district, within Maevatanàna municipality in the highlands. Based on available information, a family member who had gone to sell goods at Maevatanàna market noticed a young man who had been watching them for several days. At that moment, the man suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked the woman. Fortunately, a bag she was carrying blocked the blade from reaching her. When the woman fell, she called for help and a man came to her aid. The knife then struck this man as well, wounding him. The assailant fled without taking anything. Local residents helped transport the two stabbed victims to CHRR Morafenokely medical facility. National police working in Maevatanàna arrived at the scene following reports and have launched an investigation into the incident.
