The TAC3 at Ambohimanambola, commissioned to bridge the production gap for the RIA. The electricity production capacity of the Antananarivo Interconnected Network (RIA) has been strengthened since Friday, July 24th. The TAC3 power plant (third combustion turbine) at Ambohimanambola was put into service from 3 p.m. and now supplies 18 MW of power to the network. This new capacity helps address the production deficit that has affected the RIA in recent days. The gap had reached approximately 15 MW during peak consumption hours, particularly during evening peak demand when electricity demand is highest. With the injection of 18 MW from TAC3, available production now covers network needs and even provides an additional margin of approximately 3 MW, according to information provided. This development represents a notable improvement for electricity supply to the capital and surrounding areas, following several days marked by production shortages. The capacity reinforcement at Ambohimanambola should help reduce constraints related to power deficits during peak periods, subject to proper functioning of the various production units as well as the transmission and distribution network.
