A 10-year-old schoolgirl was found wandering near the football field in Bevalala, in the fokontany of Malaho, rural commune of Ampanefy, on Friday, July 24 around 7:10 p.m. Alerted by a citizen, gendarmes from the Ankadivoribe advanced post immediately went to the scene, where they discovered the child. She identified herself as Nomena, a second-year student at Ampefiloha Public Primary School, and said she had been brought to the area by a classmate named Lovasoa. She explained that she had worked as a domestic helper alongside this girl, but could not remember the location or the name of their employer, whom they had left long ago. The child, approximately 1.20 m tall, with mixed-race skin and braided hair, was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a red t-shirt, navy blue shorts, and purple sandals. She was taken to the advanced post office to be kept safe, pending the arrival of her relatives. Local authorities were informed and an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of her wandering, according to the gendarmerie.
