The principle of "state secularism" should not prevent public authorities from working with religious denominations. This was the message conveyed by Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, president of the Refoundation, on Saturday in Morondava, during the consecration of Monsignor Jeannot Martial Andrianandrainy, new auxiliary bishop of the diocese. "We often hear about 'state secularism,' but here we clearly see that the State needs all religious denominations to help the country," he affirmed. For him, the current crisis demands transcending barriers. Far from challenging the Constitution, this openness would be, according to him, a pragmatic necessity to face social challenges and the distress of populations. The head of state also addressed Christians directly. He calls on them to "open themselves to the people so it is not harmed." And for the State to do the same.
