Former President Andry Rajoelina has broken his silence with a message posted on his Facebook account yesterday. He addresses the growing anxiety affecting Malagasy families, beginning with a biblical verse to describe what he witnesses in the country: abductions, injustices, and violence. He says he is "deeply moved" by the situation. According to him, too many children have lost their lives and too many households now live in fear. The reality is stark: today, many parents can only breathe when their child returns home. This fear no longer affects only the youngest. Young people and adults also live with daily insecurity, he states. Rather than calling for confrontation, he advocates for appeasement. He urges Malagasy people not to be divided by "hatred" and to embrace "humanity and solidarity" instead.
