A 44-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, July 23, around 9 a.m., after stealing a bicycle from within a ministry compound, despite the area being considered a highly secure zone. He was apprehended while still pushing the stolen bike. The victim is a delivery person who came to make a delivery at the Ministry of National Education. Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, the suspect seized the bicycle before attempting to leave the premises. His behavior, however, did not go unnoticed. Police officers responsible for security at the Ministry of Public Security, located in Anosy, quickly intervened and arrested him with the bicycle in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody for investigation purposes. The investigation will notably need to determine whether this is an isolated act or if he is involved in other similar thefts. This case especially highlights the audacity of the perpetrator, who did not hesitate to commit his theft in the heart of a perimeter considered a red zone, benefiting from significant security measures due to the presence of several state institutions. Despite this attempt, the quick response of police officers made it possible to immediately recover the stolen property and proceed with the arrest of the alleged thief.
