A child, approximately 6 years old, was killed when struck by an off-road vehicle at kilometer marker 147+900 in Manerinerina fokontany, Ankazobe district. According to witnesses, the child suddenly crossed the road. The Land Rover was traveling at high speed and the driver could not avoid the child. The vehicle struck the child with considerable force, and despite the driver's attempts to brake, the impact was severe. The child was thrown to the ground and suffered serious injuries. Given the severity of the trauma, death appeared inevitable. Soon after, villagers gathered and immediately blamed the vehicle's occupants. The driver waited for police to arrive at the scene. Officers arrived in time and managed to prevent the angry crowd from attacking those in the vehicle. They were protected from mob justice, as Madagascar's laws prohibit such vigilante action.
