The 3rd edition of the Cheese Fair of the Highlands, organized by M'Anja Events under the supervision of the Ministry of Livestock, has been running since yesterday until July 25, 2025 at the Antaninarenina garden. The objective is to showcase artisanal cheeses and other dairy products manufactured by small producers and rural entrepreneurs from the dairy triangle regions, namely Analamanga, Itasy and Vakinankaratra. "This is also an opportunity to promote the dairy value chain. In the Highlands, dairy cattle farming is well developed, while in other regions, such as Atsimo Andrefana, small ruminant farming, particularly goats, is valued for goat milk production. We are supporting the Malagasy Dairy Board (MDB) in facilitating the import of drought-resilient forage seeds and promoting artificial insemination for genetic improvement of cattle and goat herds. About a hundred producers will soon be trained to develop goat milk production," declared the supervising minister, Riana Nantenaina Randrianomenjanahary, at the fair's opening yesterday. Around thirty stands have been set up for this event. "Each exhibitor offers free tastings before any purchase of dairy products, plus prize discounts. Furthermore, cheese makers will meet customers directly through a partnership with the Federation of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs of Madagascar. Additionally, we are organizing the 'Happy Hour Milk', which consists of distributing hot milk to visitors for a limited time," said Anja Rajaofera, founder of M'Anja Events. For her part, the interim regional chief of Analamanga, Clémence Raharinirina, stated that her institution always supports fairs organized by the private sector, the district or municipalities under her jurisdiction, to contribute to local economic development. "We will also support the MDB, which will launch the 'Milk' quality label, as milk and its derived products help improve food security," she concluded.
