Christine Harijaona Razanamahasoa is opening a new chapter in her career. Appointed ambassador and permanent representative of Madagascar to UNESCO in Paris, the former president of the National Assembly under Andry Rajoelina's regime, has expressed her gratitude to Colonel Mickaël Randrianirina, head of state, for the "confidence" placed in her. In a thank-you message posted on social media, she said she was "honored" by this appointment. The diplomat will soon take up her duties at the headquarters of Madagascar's permanent representation, located at 40, rue du Général-Foy, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. This appointment marks a turning point for this senior magistrate, who entered politics in 2009 alongside Andry Rajoelina. Since then, Christine Razanamahasoa has held several top positions. A three-time minister, she left her mark especially as president of the National Assembly, a position she held from July 2019 to April 2024. Her career has nonetheless been marked by political turbulence. Refusing what she considered unjust and exclusionary practices, she gradually distanced herself from Andry Rajoelina's circle. This stance ultimately cost her the presidency of the National Assembly, from which she was removed amid strong political tensions. Her appointment to UNESCO now appears as a fresh start. With this nomination, Christine Razanamahasoa also enters the history of Malagasy diplomacy. She becomes the fourth woman to represent Madagascar as ambassador and permanent representative to UNESCO, after Yvette Ranjeva, Irène Rabenoro and Yvette Sylla.
