Classical violin found a particularly young audience on Tuesday at the Cité des Cultures d'Antaninarenina. The concert by Ravo Raboanarison, accompanied on piano by Antsa Ratsimba, was a success before an audience eager to discover classical music. Unusually for this type of event, young people were well represented, whereas the public typically consists of seniors and adults. Organized by Madagascar Mozarteum, this free concert aims to make classical music accessible to all. The program, selected by the violinist, featured works by Oskar Rieding, Gabriel Fauré, Fritz Kreisler, Jean-Baptiste Accolay, Fryderyk Chopin, as well as He Zhanhao and Chen Gang, including Hungarian Concerto, After a Dream, Sicilienne and Rigaudon, Prelude and Allegro, Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, Nocturne in C-sharp Minor, and Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto. As an encore, the two musicians performed Méditation de Thaïs. Following the concert, Ravo Raboanarison reflected on the emotion of this encounter with the audience. "What marked this day were the emotions felt during the performance, as well as the special connection between the public and the musicians," the violinist testified. The concert showcased the sensitivity and virtuosity of the violinist in a romantic and post-romantic repertoire. Ravo Raboanarison discovered the violin at age 8 under Davida Randrianarivelo, then trained from ages 9 to 12 at the Germano-Malagasy Centre (CGM) in Analakely, under the direction of Casimir Rakotoniaina. He continued his training largely as a self-taught musician, accompanied notably by Manjato Andriamanjato and Henintsoa Tsiory Rabarijaona. Thanks to Madagascar Mozarteum and the initiative of José Bronfman, he participated in several master classes with international pedagogues from Switzerland, France, and Poland, which notably fostered his regular collaborations with the Orchestre à rayonnement régional (ORR) of La Réunion. Without attending a major international conservatory, he built his career with discipline and perseverance, convinced that it is possible to achieve a high level from Madagascar while developing his own musical identity.
