The president of the Refondation of the Republic of Madagascar, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, has expressed strong criticism against ENELEC, the electricity supplier in three major cities: Antsiranana, Toamasina, and Mahajanga. Although JIRAMA continues to pay all its invoices to this private provider, these three cities are facing recurring power cuts due to reduced production. Faced with this situation, the head of state issued a one-week ultimatum to ENELEC leaders to restore normal electricity supply to these areas. He also mentioned reviewing the contract between this private company and the national water and electricity company, calling the partnership "a scam."

The company reported unprecedented major technical failures in some of its power plants. "All technicians have been mobilized to find solutions, working closely with JIRAMA technical teams. The objective is to resolve these technical failures and stabilize the network while maintaining energy supply to these three major cities," explained ENELEC management. The JIRAMA private supplier also indicated it is taking into consideration the concerns raised by the president regarding these energy supply interruptions, which it considers inevitable in the three cities mentioned.
