Through high-impact community activities announced at the official welcome ceremony for the newly inaugurated Governor of Lions Clubs International District 417, Stefan Andrianisa, unveiled his priorities for the 2026-2027 mandate. Professional training aligned with real needs to strengthen youth employability; balanced meals for students in approximately thirty primary schools to contribute to educational success for vulnerable children; and actions to combat malnutrition in several regions of Madagascar. These are among the main activities to be undertaken shortly in Madagascar by the Lions and Leo Clubs of District 417 during the first half of Governor Stefan Andrianisa's mandate. Among these priorities, the nutrition component takes on particular significance in Madagascar, where the nutritional situation in several regions of the country requires more substantial, concrete and tangible actions. Within this framework, a nutrition caravan will travel through the southern half of the country, departing from Antsirabe in October 2026 to reach Tolagnaro, then the northern axis in November 2026, departing from Nosy Be to Antsiranana. In parallel, actions that have proven successful in the past, such as screening campaigns for diabetes and eye diseases, particularly cataracts, remain relevant and will be strengthened to maximize their impact on communities. Other activities, to be implemented with Lions and Leo clubs from several countries in the District, are also planned for the remainder of the mandate, which ends in June 2027. As a reminder, Lions Clubs International District 417 covers several Indian Ocean countries, namely Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion, Djibouti, Rodrigues, Mayotte and, most recently, the Comoros. The District currently has 85 clubs with approximately 1,900 members, as well as 570 young people belonging to Leo Clubs.
