The lifeless body of Dr Hortensia Mandrosovoatra Avotriniaina, a 27-year-old physician, was discovered yesterday morning in Ranomafana, in the Ifanadiana district. Her disappearance had prompted numerous calls for witnesses on social media since Monday. According to initial information, the young doctor, who lived in Fianarantsoa, had traveled to Ranomafana. She had not contacted her family, leading relatives and acquaintances to launch a search appeal and share messages on social media to try to locate her. The search took a tragic turn. The woman's body was found in the water near the Andriamamovoka waterfall. Her bag and mobile phone had been discovered earlier in the area. Dr Hortensia's remains were transported to the tranom-pokonolona in Ranomafana, where they currently remain. According to information from those close to her, the young doctor had been experiencing psychological difficulties before her disappearance. However, the exact circumstances of her death remain to be determined. An investigation should establish the precise causes of her death and shed light on events preceding the discovery of her body.
Prime Minister Promises Firmness
This case comes as authorities demonstrate their commitment to strengthening the fight against criminal acts. Prime Minister Rajaonarison Mamitiana stated that persons arrested in theft or murder cases would be prosecuted in accordance with the law. "We will show no mercy to those who are arrested," he declared, asserting that no intervention would allow those involved in criminal acts to escape justice. "No one will be spared. No intervention will be accepted. The law must be applied," the Prime Minister emphasized. For now, the circumstances surrounding Dr Hortensia's death remain shrouded in many questions. Investigation results will determine what actually happened before her body was discovered.
