Following rehabilitation of the Ifasy river ford, the Mahavavy river crossing (PK 568 + 720) has now been fully restored and reopened to traffic. All vehicle types, including heavy trucks, can now use the crossing. This brings particular relief to drivers of vehicles over twenty tonnes, who have endured months of difficult conditions. Work focused on restoring the structure to ensure its strength, durability and user safety. With rehabilitation now complete, normal traffic conditions have been restored for residents, transporters, farmers, merchants and public services who use this route daily. This reopening provides much-needed relief for users who described RN6 traffic as an obstacle course. Every lost hour meant delayed goods delivery, additional costs and reduced income. Work completion marks an important milestone for affected communities. Now fully operational again, the ford facilitates movement and supports local economic development and territorial connectivity. The reopening is also a major relief for Ambilobe residents and thousands of users of this strategic route linking northern Madagascar to the rest of the country. For them, a vital link is restored, daily life improves and new economic opportunities emerge. Additionally, it temporarily eases congestion at the modular bridge installed after Cyclone Gamane, where daily traffic jams had become particularly severe and posed ongoing risks to drivers.
