Representatives of the French Development Agency (AFD) recently met with Madagascar's Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Gaëtan Ramindo. The AFD remains a leading partner for Madagascar in sustainable agricultural development. Numerous projects are financed and developed in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. Both parties are committed to continuing and optimizing these joint projects to promote rural development and the agricultural sector, while contributing to achieving food sovereignty in the country through increased agricultural production. This was revealed during the meeting between AFD officials and the supervising minister, Gaëtan Ramindo. On this occasion, he outlined the government's vision and general program for the agricultural sector. "Prosperous producers for a well-fed nation" is his guiding principle.
Digitalization of Agriculture
To this end, the transformation and modernization of the agricultural system is essential. This involves promoting best practices and production techniques resilient to the harmful effects of climate change, including agroecological techniques, while optimizing productivity yields. Reducing post-harvest losses and securing land rights are also priorities. The State simultaneously encourages agribusiness and rural entrepreneurship, not forgetting agricultural digitalization, while promoting promising value chains. Support for small family farms remains a focus, equipping them with agricultural inputs.
