Mauritius is among the preferred destinations for Malagasy workers. A decisive step has been taken in rationalizing and governing professional mobility in Madagascar. The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Civil Service (MTEFoP) and the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) formalized their partnership last Friday. The central objective of this agreement is to establish a centralized and reliable system for managing labor migration data. For the ministry authorities, this strengthened synergy with INSTAT constitutes an essential strategic lever for structuring the monitoring of professional migration flows, both at national and international levels. "Having clear data and statistics will allow Madagascar to have a solid foundation for developing public policies and effective action plans regarding labor migration regulation," emphasizes the Director General of Labor, Rojomampionona Ravelomahatratra. The availability of these figures in a timely manner will enable the State to make informed decisions adapted to the realities of the cross-border labor market. For his part, INSTAT's Director General, Eric Jean Michel Rakotomanana, recalled the crucial importance of statistical accuracy in this field. "Labor migration is among those key sectors that require robust statistical tools." Through this agreement, the two institutions commit to intensifying information sharing to create a single and consolidated registry, thereby ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in managing professional migration flows.
