The Antananarivo Customs Bureau's storage warehouses at Antanimena will open to the public. Multiple lots of goods currently stored in these facilities will be sold at public auction. "This auction allows us to manage stored goods, free up storage space, and monetize items that can legally be sold," the General Customs Directorate explained yesterday.
A total of 118 lots of merchandise are being offered at public auction, including motorcycles, a 4×4 vehicle, clothing, car batteries, and books. The complete list of items, minimum starting prices, and participation conditions are available on notice boards at all Madagascar Customs offices and on the website www.douanes.gov.mg.
"These are imported goods that were not collected by their owners within the prescribed timeframe (generally two months after storage). They also include goods seized for customs violations that have become saleable under the law (after confiscation, settlement, or other legal procedures)," according to officials.
Owners can still recover their goods listed for auction before the final sale, provided they settle their customs duties and associated fees and penalties.
The auction runs from Monday, August 10, 2026 to Thursday, August 13, with lot viewings and deposit payments on the first two days.
